The use of fire-resistant materials can significantly bring down the chances of a building going up in flames in the first place. It is with this understanding that Microcells started further developing its heat proof and fireproof products, and it gives us great pleasure to announce that we have now obtained the stringent BS EN 13501-1, Bfl – S1 certification for our fire resistant mat range! This certification is the benchmark for fire resistance in Europe to classify products and building materials used in the construction industry, which also includes rubber flooring products.

Fire resistance technically not only refers to the resistance to burning behavior, but also addresses the generation of smoke. This is an extremely significant fact considering that the vast majority of fatalities in a fire are caused due to smoke inhalation and that thick smoke can impair vision, hampering chances of escape as well as rescue efforts. In this regard, we are proud of the fact that our products have been classified in the “S1” category, which is the highest level of performance in terms of smoke generation for flooring products. As part of the robust testing procedures, our products comfortably passed tests to determine the Burning Behavior (EN ISO 9239-1) and Ignitability (EN ISO 11925-2) as well.

The classifications above essentially mean that Microcells products have achieved the highest possible standard applicable to fireproof mat products as per European standards. We are proud of what we have been able to achieve in our relentless pursuit to offer our customers safer products.
